Vehicle Software Release Ocean OS 2.0

We are pleased to announce the arrival of Ocean OS 2.0, bringing new and improved features, bug fixes, and enhancements to improve the functionality, convenience, and overall performance of your Fisker Ocean.

Due to the size and scope of Ocean OS 2.0, it may be delivered to your vehicle as multiple, separate installations. This means you may be asked to follow the below installation steps up to three times. Once completed, it will display "Ocean OS 2.0" in the Software tab of Vehicle Settings found in your Central Touchscreen.

Notable vehicle/feature enhancements:
  • SoC retention: We made significant enhancements to your Ocean’s energy management system to help maintain your vehicle battery’s state of charge (SoC) and reduce passive battery drainage.

  • Key fob performance: Ocean OS 2.0 will include a special upgrade that will allow your key fob to receive OTA updates. After 2.0 has successfully been installed, your vehicle will automatically initiate and install new key fob software that will improve button click performance and response.

  • Earth Mode comfort: We’ve adjusted the heating and cooling system in your Ocean for a more comfortable experience when driving in Earth Mode.

  • Front / Rear Torque split: Enhanced power distribution ratio between front and rear wheels from 50:50 to 45:55 to improve traction and handling performance. This will result in an even more sporty and dynamic Ocean in both Fun and Hyper drive modes. (Available only for One, Extreme, and Ultra models equipped with a dual-motor all-wheel drive powertrain.)

New features:

Automatic Vehicle Hold: Automatic Vehicle Hold (AVH) replaces and improves upon the Hill Hold feature, increasing vehicle hold time to enhance driver ease and comfort. AVH is activated when the brake pedal is depressed while stopped and in gear, using vehicle brakes to automatically hold the vehicle in place even after the brake pedal is released. Automatic Vehicle Hold disengages when the accelerator pedal is pressed. AVH is separate from one-pedal driving and is not a replacement for the proper use of regen and traditional braking while driving.

SolarSky charging visuals: Discover how much solar charging has been delivered to your vehicle — with real time statistics and visuals — in a new, interactive SolarSky energy page. Located in the Charging/Energy menu on the Central Touchscreen. (Available only for One and Extreme models)

Trailer Sway Mitigation: A stability control system feature that helps to counter trailer sway, helping to make towing more controlled and relaxed.

Brake Disc Wiping: In wet weather, the braking system automatically and imperceptibly clears water from brake disc surfaces to improve braking response.

Individual driver profiles: Personalize your drive. The new and improved Driver Profile features allow you to easily save preferences, privacy, comfort settings, and more for multiple drivers in the same Ocean. This feature is just the beginning — stay tuned for more updates and new capabilities to further personalize your Driver Profile.

To add, edit or otherwise access the profiles feature, head to the Profiles tab in Vehicle Settings in the Central Touchscreen. (Note: drivers with existing paired profiles may need to add and pair their driver profile again after this update successfully installs.)

Standby Time controls: To reduce boot-up time, the Fisker Ocean infotainment system will switch to a standby mode after you stop and exit your vehicle. This mode reduces the energy usage by putting the system in a “sleep state” for a pre-programmed time interval of 24 hours. We have added a new, adjustable setting to allow drivers to adjust this pre-programmed standby time. This will help to reduce battery usage when your vehicle is planned to be idle for an extended period. Note: You may experience a longer vehicle boot-up time more frequently when Standby Time is reduced. For optimal performance, it is recommended to maintain the default setting of 24hrs.

To access Standby Time controls, head to the Energy tab in Vehicle Settings in the Central Touchscreen.

Other performance improvements:
  • Calibration changes in cabin heating and cooling to improve defogging

  • OTA updates able to be installed while vehicle is plugged in (note: charging pauses during software update)

  • Revised audio tuning for improved bass response (Available only for One and Extreme models)

  • Enhanced accuracy in trip metering

  • Improved accuracy in energy consumption metering

  • Other bug fixes and performance enhancements

Please follow these installation steps for Ocean OS 2.0:
  1. When your vehicle is ready to install an update, you will receive a notification on the Central Touchscreen. (You can also activate the installation process at the Software tab in the Settings menu of the Central Touchscreen when it’s available.)

  2. Ensure your vehicle’s battery level is over 25% and it’s not connected to a charger.

  3. Tap “Accept” and then “Start Installation” and follow the instructions that appear on the Central Touchscreen.

  4. Driver and all passengers must roll up all windows and exit the vehicle during an OTA update. Do not leave any children or pets inside the vehicle.

  5. Close and lock all doors.

  6. After 5 minutes, your software update will begin. Do not enter the vehicle and/or tap the brake pedal for up to 120 minutes after your installation has started. (It is recommended to only initiate the installation process when you are certain that you will not need to use your vehicle.)

  7. Your vehicle will now be ready to drive.

How do I know if it was successful?
  • Your Central Touchscreen will send a notification that the update was successful.

  • We will also monitor your OTA and will contact you if it was not successful.

  • The software version and release notes displayed in your Central Touchscreen will now reflect your vehicle’s correct software version number. You can find release notes and your vehicle’s current software number at the Software tab in the Vehicle Settings menu of the Central Touchscreen. (Note: if the version number was not updated to Ocean OS 2.0, your software update is incomplete and most likely still in progress. You can try again by following the listed steps above. If that doesn't initiate the installation process, you may need to wait for the next portion of the update to be sent to your vehicle for downloading. This could take up to a few days.)

Key Fob Software Update:

Upon the successful installation of Ocean OS 2.0, your key fob will automatically receive an OTA update the next time you get in your vehicle to drive. This update process could render your key fob unresponsive for as long as 5 minutes. If you are experiencing any difficulty shifting into drive (D) or reverse (R) during this update, simply place your key fob against the NFC reader underneath the steering wheel.

If your key fob battery is low, it is recommended to replace the battery before this update occurs.

Notes:
  • We improved the high voltage battery system to better protect it when it’s low on charge. It is highly recommended that you maintain a vehicle State of Charge (SoC) of 20% or higher. If your vehicle SoC drops to 5%, its 12V battery system will start to lose charge/functionality when in park (P) and could trigger the vehicle alarm.

  • Do not leave objects on your vehicle seats as this may trigger occupancy sensors and block installation.

  • If you cancel or decline the installation or installation request, you will receive a reminder the next time you start or stop driving.

  • In rare instances, you may encounter an issue where speaker audio does not activate after installing Ocean OS 2.0 software. Should this occur, restoring audio functionality is simple. Just allow your vehicle to enter sleep mode by locking the doors and removing your key fob from the vehicle's immediate proximity. The vehicle will enter sleep mode after approximately five minutes.

  • If you encounter any lagging, error messages, or other unusual behavior with your Central Touchscreen, reset the infotainment system by pressing and holding the two inner steering wheel buttons until the Central Touchscreen turns black. Note: Rebooting the infotainment system will not sign out of any apps or delete any saved information.

  • Do not enter the vehicle and/or tap the brake pedal for 120 minutes after your installation has started. Interrupting a software installation could cause your vehicle to lose proper functionality. Contact a Fisker Rådgiver at support@fiskerinc.com or +1-844-FISKER1 if you have any questions or concerns.
